DISTILLED IN 2016, BOTTLED IN 2022

Caol Ila Distillery, located on the northeast coast of the Scottish isle of Islay, was founded in 1846 and derives its Gaelic name "Caol Ìle" from the nearby strait, which means "Sound of Islay". The distillery is owned by Diageo and is the largest whisky producer on Islay. Their single malt style is characteristically coastal and smoky, but lighter and fresher in character compared to many other Islay drams: think of sea air, seaweed, peppery spice, and soft peat instead of heavy medicinal smoke.

The third release is a young 6-year-old Caol Ila, bottled at an impressive 61.2%. Naturally at cask strength. This single malt from Islay is one for the fans of powerful, peated Islay whisky and is an incredible “Islay flavor bomb”.

NOSE:
Immediately pleasantly dirty, mud, boiled ham. Apples, rubber.

BODY:
Oily and surprisingly sweet. Pepper. Spicy smokiness. Very robust.

FINISH:
Long, sweet, peppery.
